Born and raised near Detroit, Michigan, Josh’s journey south was through the five-string banjo. The bluegrass music has never stopped, and Josh found that helping musicians is one of the most rewarding aspects of working in Music City.
Josh’s practice is dedicated to representing individuals and businesses in a wide variety of legal matters. He cut his teeth in criminal courtrooms, defending individuals accused of everything from DUI and Simple Possession to First Degree Murder. This representation often requires purposeful courtroom advocacy, and Josh considers himself a trial lawyer first and foremost. As a graduate of the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys Trial College, Josh views the ability to understand and convey a client’s story as one of the most important jobs of a courtroom advocate. This holistic approach to advocacy is present in all stages of a case, from the initial client meeting to the final closing argument.
Josh/s clients have many diverse needs, and his wide and varied experience serves them well. Josh have cultivated a substantial family law practice helping people navigate the difficult and often turbulent avenues of divorce, child custody, or post-divorce issues. Crisp attention to detail has also proven an asset in both simple and complex civil litigation–from landlord-tenant disputes to personal injury cases to real estate conflicts to business dissolution actions to corporate fraud claims. In plaintiff’s and defense work, Josh has found that creativity, communication, and diligence are the key ingredients to obtaining favorable results for his clients.
Through the years Josh have also honed his skills as a writer. He have extensive experience in complex motion practice and has maintained an active appellate practice, handling complex appeals of both civil and criminal matters, as well as requests for post-judgment relief. Notably, Josh was part of the team that represented John Jay Hooker in his lawsuit to challenge the constitutionality of “aid-in-dying,” or assisted suicide.
Josh also provides litigation support and assistance for attorneys and law firms who need additional “hands on deck” in large and complex matters. He frequently perform research, drafting, consultation, and other work as the needs of the case require.
Josh is licensed to practice in both State and Federal Court and is familiar with courtrooms all over Middle Tennessee.
